Did you know ASEBP reviewed 41 potential provider benefit fraud cases in the last 3 years?  

As a covered member, it is important to know what to look for when working with a service or product provider. Most benefit providers work with you, and your ASEBP Plan, as a covered member to support your mental, and physical, health journey. For the instances where health businesses, or practitioners, do have intentions to commit provider benefits fraud, ASEBP wants to give covered members as many tools and tips as possible to safeguard their benefits. 

Top 3 tips 

Stay informed and know what to look for when choosing a provider. 

  1. Check ASEBP’s ineligible providers list (log into My ASEBP, select the Ineligible Providers tab) 
  2. Double check benefits service provider details and credentials 
  3. When in doubt, call an ASEBP benefit specialist

What is provider fraud? 

Provider fraud is when a service or product provider misrepresents a claim, or in some cases deceives a covered member for a higher reimbursement. Examples of benefit service and products, include: 

  • Acupuncture 
  • Chiropractor  
  • Canes, cervical collars, crutches and walkers 
  • Compression garments and support/surgical stockings 
  • Dentist, orthodontist 
  • Massage therapist 
  • Podiatrist, foot orthotics 
  • Psychology, counselling
